From the Desk of…
Probably going to be slim pickings in here today. My journeys into Hyrule allowed me some much appreciated time off, so it’s very possible some wretched news item slipped past my gaze in the past few days. The game, for those of you wondering but not playing, is good. House Democrats are moving to expel war hero and inventor of Liquid Paper Representative George Santos after being indicted for many crimes. Expulsion would put Rep. Santos in the exalted company of only five other Congressmen: John Bullock Clark, John William Reid, and Henry Cornelius Burnett during the American Civil War, Michael Myers for taking bribes related to Abscam in 1980, and we’ll open the phone lines after sign-off for the fifth caller to tell us who in 2002 was the fifth and most recently expelled Congressman - your chance to win this week’s Meow Prize. Also, be ready to vote No on 8/8 this year, since Republicans will be costing the state $20 million dollars to attack democracy. Speaking of voting, there’s no time like the present to start looking into candidates for this autumn, candidates like Adrienne Hood, running for District 4 City Council against Emmanuel Remy.
But hey, Kathy Bates is the new Matlock.

Family Ties reboot but the parents are Third Way Dems and the kids are Nazisfinally, a Zelda game that lets me live out the dream of wandering around with a gun and trying to remember where I parked
one plot that's good is when hobos find something cool in an alley
That last one, I was watching Night Gallery because who doesn’t unwind with a little 1970s television, and I was also thinking of the episode of The Twilight Zone where Art Carney finds Santa’s sack in an alley, and I just think that there’s a lot of dramatic weight to guys finding stuff to initiate plots.
At the Movies
Movie time has largely been replaced with Zelda. Them’s the breaks.
Before Sunrise (1995), dir. Richard Linklater ⭐⭐⭐⭐
fine
Before Sunset (2004), dir. Richard Linklater ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
fine
Coneheads (1993), dir. Steve Barron ⭐⭐⭐
Probably as good as it ever could've been. I think it's interesting that two of the writers and Jane team up again a few years later for 3rd Rock. Makes me wonder if Dan and the existing material wasn't the limiting factor here.
The Coneheads had an outsized pop cultural impact for how few appearances they had on SNL, but then I guess David S. Pumpkins was a thing. Maybe Lorne is just really good at figuring out what things to milk.

In closing,
Gotta blast, there’s a princess waiting.
